DAVID J. POLLAY'S
NO GARBAGE TRUCKS!™ PLEDGE
Copyright 2007 David J. Pollay
There’s a movement underway and you’re now a part of it. You have read THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK™. You no longer let Garbage Trucks take over your life.
The Law of the Garbage Truck™ was sparked by an experience I had in a taxicab almost twenty years ago. Over the years I developed the insight I gained that day into a life philosophy and strategy, and named it “The Law of the Garbage Truck.” I have shared The Law with thousands of people from more than one hundred countries in my speeches and seminars.
I’ve written about the Law of the Garbage Truck™ in newspaper columns and on news sites worldwide. I’ve talked about it on radio and television. And I’ve shared it in the best-selling DVD, The Happiness Answer™. And someone probably sent it to you in an email.
My book, THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK: How to Respond to People Who Dump On You, and How to Stop Dumping on Others, will be released internationally by Sterling Publishing (a Barnes & Noble company) on October 5, 2010. The book is available for pre-order here:
People from around the world have joined the NO GARBAGE TRUCKS!™ movement. And now, so can you.
If you want to be happy…If you want to be successful…Follow The Law of the Garbage Truck™.
Here is an excerpt from THE LAW OF THE GARBAGE TRUCK:
“Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you.
So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier.”
So join millions of people from more than 100 countries, and in 48 languages. Take the No Garbage Trucks! Pledge™ now.
Just think: What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more Garbage Trucks pass you by? Make a difference in the world. Take The Pledge.
Welcome and congratulations! You are now a member of the No Garbage Trucks!™ movement. When you stop accepting garbage in your life, you become happier and more successful. And when you stop spreading garbage to others, you make the world a more beautiful place.
Always remember your NO GARBAGE TRUCKS!™ PLEDGE. You do not accept garbage in your life. And you do not spread garbage to others. You are not a Garbage Truck.
Now, spread the word.
Tell the people you care about.
Share the No Garbage Trucks!™ Pledge with them.
Together we can make the world a better place.
We are not Garbage Trucks!
The idea of taking a pledge to live a better life will make me become a better person. Sometime I feel as if I may be the one dumping garbage on people but I have come to realize that this is not the way to go. I wont to become a better person and it start with a change. So thank you so much for your store it help me to night.
Thanks David

David:
I love your garbage truck concept and use it all the time in my laughter yoga workshops that I lead. It is particularly useful for those in customer service jobs where they are constantly barraged by the customers either in person or on the phone. Great analogy and very useful to make the positive energy chain tangible and real.
thanks

Hi T&M,
Exactly! You make everyone's experience in life better when you take The Pledge. Ohio is lucky to count you as one of their drivers!
Best to you,
David

IF you don't take the pledge every morning the first traffic light of the day will have you talking to the car that just blew through the light as you began to move and then you catch yourself cutting off someone else in response. What a way to start the day. So a little pledge and remembrance of those who really count in your life not the other drivers garbage and the trip becomes a little less stressful and a lot safer.

This is wonderful! I heard someone talking about this pledge in the healing profession and I had to look for myself. This is powerful! This really has allowed me to let those who are "garbage trucks" to not enter my thinking! Thank you. If we could all take this pledge to heart we would all live fuller lives.
Thanks, Abby

Hi David,
I love the idea of taking a pledge to live a better life. It makes it more "real" for me and I feel connected to all the other people who have taken the pledge as well. I have a vision of being in a plane talking to the person seated next to me and we look at each other and say, "Oh my gosh! You know about the No Garbage Truck Pledge?" Wouldn't that be so cool? Thanks David! Tamara

Thanks Cari for the great post!
So often we struggle internally with the things that disappoint us, frustrate us, and scare us. And the result is that we feel as if we are in a spin cycle in a laundry machine (we say the same things, feel the same things, and do the same things); there’s a lot of motion, but we’re still stuck to the inside of the machine. When we reach out with humility for assistance when we need it, help comes and we are able to get up and get out.
The Law of the Garbage Truck and The No Garbage Trucks Pledge also encourage us to “not take things personally” and “wish them well.” Too often we move to judgement with others. It is better to let them pass by with good will. We all need support; wishing that all people have love and help in their life is a wonderful thing (including the Garbage Trucks that pass us by).
And the key to really working with the Law of the Garbage Truck and The No Garbage Trucks! Pledge is to better respect and cherish the life that we have by letting fewer things we cannot control frustrate us, anger us, and distract us from what’s important in our lives. The power of The Law of the Garbage Truck and the No Garbage Trucks Pledge comes when we learn to and remember to “bring less garbage” into our lives so we have less garbage to “let go.”
Cari, your family and friends are lucky to have you in their lives!
Best to you,
David

Hi David. I correlate the "garbage" in our lives to a failure to connect with God. As a Christian, the hardest thing for me to do is "Let go and let God." I like to worry over problems and work them out on my own, even when there is nothing I can do. But when we offer up our problems, or "garbage", to God through prayer, solutions come more easily. Perhaps when other people try to "dump" their "garbage" on us, we should pray that they find the strength to pray for help, so that God can help them shoulder their burdens. Take care and God Bless!
